(c)space is a new coworking space in Louisville that gives members the opportunity to interact and collaborate with other nonprofit organizations and community-minded businesses and professionals.  This affordable, well-appointed and flexible, turn-key office solution in the Lyndon area of Eastern Jefferson County (just down the road from the UPS Air Group building) offers:

Modern, light and airy space, superfast wireless access and (oh yes!) free coffee:

(c)space offers a variety of office space arrangements, including 13 private offices, six open workspaces and desks; affordable rates and flexible terms; and amenities that include full-time staffed reception, multiple conference and meeting spaces, ample parking, a large kitchenette, a business center, storage lockers, wireless access and free coffee.

Professional interaction with like-minded colleagues:

The name “(c)space” comes from the IRS designation 501(c)3 for nonprofit organizations with a charitable mission.  But (c)space is NOT just for nonprofits.  Members who can leverage (c)space to enhance their professional presence and network with other capable colleagues include entrepreneurs and innovators, community-minded businesses and self-employed professionals – such as writers, web designers, IT developers, researchers and attorneys.

Introducing the Icebox Co-Labs!

Hatch Creative and Olive Creative have joined forces with SOFO Development to open a creative coworking space in downtown Louisville, KY. With over 5,000 sq. ft., 4 conference rooms, a full-featured photo studio, MAME Arcade Cabinet, Star Wars pinball machine and a ping-pong table, you’ll wonder why you didn’t move out of your home office sooner.  More info coming soon!

We’re still plugging away with construction, check the photo gallery to see our progress. We plan on taking our first co-workers in Spring 2010. Construction is almost complete! Come on by, we’re located at 217 E. Main St. in the Ice House Lofts building. We have funding and are getting ready to purchase desks! It's happenin'

More information can be found about Louisville's coworking space here.

Butchertown Pointe, a warehouse being renovated near downtown Louisville, is hosting coworking space beginning in early April 2009.

Between the turnout at an information meeting last week, e-mails I’ve received, and what we perceive to be a city teeming with independent workers, Butchertown Pointe’s developers believe the demand exists to dedicate space in the building for coworking.

Here are some details:

  • The cost will be in the range of $100 to $150 a month.
  • Unlike your gym, there won't be a long-term commitment (the whole point of coworking is to create a friendly, productive atmosphere of people who want to be doing what they are doing, where they are doing it at).
  • Butchertown Pointe will supply utilities, desks and chairs, and Internet access.
  • To keep costs low, coworkers will be on their own for services such as printing, faxing, and phone calls (although it's possible for us to add them later if there's an overwhelming desire to do so).
  • While the specific space will be allocated once there is a better estimate of the number of interested people, the area currently slotted for coworking is a loft with skylights. It's also next to the building's conference room, which can be rented by the hour (pictures of the construction site are at the end of this post). It also will have a lounge.
  • Coworkers will determine rules regarding use of the space (obviously within reason).

There's another informational meeting on March 29 at 2 p.m. for people who couldn't make the first one (or just want to check out the space again). When Butchertown Pointe's renovations are close to complete, there'll be an opportunity to tour the space and sign up.

And after we move in to our new coworking space in early April, we'll have a kick-off potlatch dinner.
