About

Miami Entrepreneurship Center (MEC261) is the epicenter of Miami’s entrepreneurship community. Come see our events, be part of our mentor network and help entrepreneurs get started. We have strategic partnerships with many coworking spaces so entrepreneurs can come to the center and benefit from education, connections and support services at no additional costs.

Why

The center is located at the JANE building (261 NE 1st Street) in Downtown Miami. Plans for the building include: housing a tech incubator, a fashion incubator, a coworking space, and a maker space. All-in-one location. This type of entrepreneurial centers are no longer just in California; they are popping up across the country, expanding the startup communities across the US (Chicago, Austin, New York, Denver, Las Vegas and now Miami).

The impact centers like this have been well documented. In June 2013 the mayor’s office in Chicago, released the economic impact numbers for the one year anniversary of 1871 (CEC). The numbers showed how one center, in less than one year, created 800+ jobs, helped 200+ companies with access to more than $30,000,000 in venture capital, and more importantly helped the city keep candidates and businesses from leaving Chicago to other tech markets like New York and San Francisco. “…MEC provides a true ecosystem for startups to flourish, thats why we made it a non-profit center,” – Maurice Lopes

Transport

MEC261 is located in Downtown Miami next to the 1st Street station of the Metro Mover. There are a number of bus routes that pass right in front of the building. We are conveniently located 1 block from Biscayne Blvd.

Eating

There are dozens of restaurants within 500 yards of the building in all directions.

Parking

There is ample metered street parking around the building avg is $1.50 per hour. The parking garage adjacent is very large with over 700 spaces, it is also fairly inexpensive at $6.00 per hour with a $15.00 max rate per 24hrs.

As a non-profit incubator and collaborative work space we offer coworking space as a add-on to our activities.

Corp. Membership	$299 p/yr.	Annual membership is for those who occasionally need to drop in, print something, use a conference room, and/or have mail received on their behalf. Included is 2 or 3 visits to the center per month.
Flex Desk	$99 p/mth	Flex-Desk program is the use of any available coworking desk from 8am to 8pm Access, free coffee, free copies, free printing, free wifi, free lockers, free use of conference rooms, free use of training room.
Dedicated Desk	$249 p/mth	Dedicated desk includes your own dedicated desk (no sharing), in the coworking desk from 8am to 8pm Access, free coffee, free copies, free printing, free wifi, free lockers, free use of conference rooms, free use of training room.
