CoworkingBoston

Page history last edited by Melissa T Goldman 1 year, 9 months ago

This page is home to all things related to coworking in and around Boston. It's crowd-sourced, so please help us keep it clean and up to date. There should be sections for everything, from coworking spaces, to organizations without specific locations, to resources and general information. Greater Boston is home to over 30 coworking spaces as of 2014, with many opening and expanding every year.

History

BetaHouse (2007-2010) is reported as the first coworking space in Boston. Workbar opened soon thereafter in the South Station area of Boston.  Geek Offices opened in late 2009 at 1035 Cambridge Street, Cambridge. (Please contribute to the history of coworking in Boston! Create an account to edit.)

Local alliances

An alliance of Boston coworking spaces is organizing as of October 2015. (email) (google group)

Industry Lab

The Industry Lab is an artful co-working space in Inman Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Inhabiting the 5,500-square-foot fourth floor of a lovely brick building with wood floors and lots of windows, it’s a place for artists, engineers, scientists, and designers to reside in proximity in the service of creating beautiful things. We are freelancers, groups, startups, and studios. We collaborate, hold events, and have drinks here and there too.

Residency: Each full-time resident at Industry Lab pays a standard, monthly fee for a large chunk of permanent space. There are no additional costs. Access is 24/7/365. There is no specific square-footage allotment, instead we zone each room for a certain number of residents. Currently suite-A is a 1000-square-foot space with 8 residents. What you do with your space is up to you and the people around you, everything is possible and all is socially mediated. Want to play loud music? Ask your neighbors if it's okay. Want to use some extra space to build something big? Just ask. Residency is curated. We are building a community, not just selling office space.

Shared Facilities: Every Industry Lab resident can partake in the shared services. We have a few parking spaces, fast Internet, good water, and weekly cleaning service. We have a shared conference room that you can book as needed. We have a freight elevator and a machine shop.

To learn about renting space with us, check our about page. Here’s a list of our residents. And, if you want to drop us a line, go ahead and make contact
