Coworking in Philly

Coworking was introduced to Philadelphia by Alex Hillman, founder of Independents Hall. Current location: 20 North 3rd Street, Unit 201 Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Coworking tailored to tech startups and teams was introduced to Philadelphia by Venturef0rth, founded in January 2012 by Elliot Menschik, Jesse Kramer and Jay Shah.

Later, in October of 2012, CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia unveiled its brand-new coworking space in the heart of Center City at 1315 Walnut Street, Suite 320 (in the historic Philadelphia Building).  This unique shared environment focuses specifically on the arts, culture and heritage sectors, supporting the work of creative professionals throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.  The coworking space is not only home to a diverse community of members, but also CultureWorks' core team of management specialists who provide a range of holistic services to local non-profits and cultural organizations.

Aliza Schlabach is working towards opening Juice Box: Coworking for Parents. Semi-weekly coworking meetups are held in East Falls and on the Main Line while the group works towards finding a space in East Falls, Manayunk, Conshohocken, or the Eastern Main Line. The future space will have on-site child care, a nursing/pumping area, space for parents to spend time with their kids on breaks, and more. Learn more at http://www.coworkingforparents.com , join the meetup group at http://www.meetup.com/CoworkingForparents/ or the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheJuiceBoxPhilly/

In January 2014, CityCoHo | Philly Nexus opened its doors at 2401 Walnut Street, Suite 102.  This collaborative space located between UPenn and Center City aims at providing the social impact and sustainability movements in Philadelphia the infrastructure to grow together.  2401 Walnut has undergone an extensive green renovation including high performance windows, new mechanical systems, a green roof, and a 17,500 gallon rainwater cistern. The coworking space implements environmental best practices for member health, productivity and environmental performance. Both the building and the space are pursuing LEED Platinum green building certifications.
